iPhone: How do I take a photo with my iPhone without using the screen

One of the most used features of the iPhone is its camera. But it’s not always easy to let go of your grip on the iPhone to reach your thumb over to the “shutter button” at the bottom of the screen while in camera mode. And what do you do when you are wanting to have your camera in one place, but you in another, while the shutter is to be pressed? Here’s are two options for you.

  1. Use the Volume Buttons

Many people don’t realize that the volume up AND down buttons both can function as the camera shutter when in camera mode. This is perfect for selfies, or taking horizontal shots with your right index finger right where the shutter would be on a standard camera!

  1. Use Apple Watch

Remember when photographers would use a thumb-plunged camera remote to take a picture with an SLR?

You can do the same thing, but with your Apple Watch! Just open the camera app on your Watch, and it automatically puts your iPhone in camera mode. Tap to focus, or press the button below to count down from 3… 2… 1… click!

It even shows you a preview of the pic right in your watch, so you can have your camera far away. Works great for keeping the camera very still (wildlife or product stills?), or group shots.
